This week, we will talk about how you can get garden seeds free shipping when you order $25 or more in garden seeds from David's Garden Seeds®, our seed company. Now, it used to be $20 so if you have ordered from us in the past, we raised the amount you have to purchase before your shipping is free. That is because the post office has again raised their rates.
Apparently, "garden seeds free shipping" is a good keyword to use because so many of you have been looking for free shipping.
Today is Labor Day. Happy Labor Day to all of our team members who are home relaxing. Happy Labor Day to all of our wonderful customers who work so hard at what you do so that our great country and our great state can run smoothly!
I remember when that meant you watched the Jerry Lewis telethon all day long and then got ready for the first day of school because it was the day after Labor Day. That is how it was back east when I was a kid.
Now in Texas, school has been in session for weeks and there is no Jerry Lewis telethon. It is miserably hot and humid and you won't be able to wear your new school clothes for at least another month or two because long sleeves are way too hot.
Today is also Rosh Hashanah so Happy Rosh Hashanah to all of our wonderful Jewish friends and customers!
This morning, David worked out in the back forty while I straightened up a bit inside, did laundry, and prepped our lunch holiday food. Matt came over and grilled rib eyes and then we watched European Vacation. We haven't seen that movie in years. The food was good and we had a fun time.
Then, I put the chemicals in the pond to take away the chlorine. I am adding city water to it because it is down by several inches. We have not had rain, but we've had a lot of heat and sunshine which makes for a lot of evaporation.
We will clean up a bit and prepare for a work day tomorrow. Again, we are not open today because we need time off just like all of you do. I have had social media messages today asking if we are open. No, we are closed. We used to be open on holidays and weekends but not many people came and I was working seven days a week some weeks. I have to have time to do laundry, housework, and work on the computer for David's Garden Seeds once in a while. I can't get anything done during the regular work week. There are just too many people coming in and out of the store.
Thank you to everyone who ordered seeds today. Many of you have taken advantage of our garden seeds free shipping. Lots are planting fall gardens and are so happy to save shipping costs. If you have not taken advantage of garden seeds free shipping, please do so by visiting the David's Garden Seeds® website. We still have plenty of fall seeds available.
This morning started out bad. I got up early, in the dark and turned on a small light in the kitchen to make coffee. I got the coffee going and then I noticed little black things on my counter. The big lights came on and there were mouse turds all over my counter and cook top. We just dealt with this garbage this summer, about two months ago when our pest control guy covered a hole with metal mesh at the bottom of one of our kitchen cabinets but he did not foam it.
I got down and found that part of that was loose and there was sawdust on the floor. I felt another opening close to it. I got some caulk and caulked both places and cleaned up all of the disgusting mouse poo. I cleansed my kitchen from 99.9% of all unrighteousness with Clorox Wipes and then I started hunting for the foam. I could not find it anywhere. David found it out in the barn shed and brought it in. I picked it up, shook it, even though it felt empty, and started spraying. In vain. Nothing came out but air. The yahoos who were doing outdoor work for us used it all up, cleaned out the straw the foam comes out of and then put it up on the shelf. I saw traces of foam in the straw but the air came out nicely.
Someone bought all four dozen fresh eggs that I placed in our commercial refrigerator this morning so thank you!
This evening, after work, we found spray foam at Walmart. I bought three cans and sprayed it good. I had a hard time making it stick. It fell to the floor so I picked it up with my bare hand and pushed it up into the cracks. Then I realized I had hardening foam on my right hand so I got off as much as I could and then applied nail polish remover. Most all of it came off.
After it dried, the foam looked ridiculous, on the floor and sticking out from the cabinets, but at least the mice can't get back in through those two holes.
Twice before, we moved into mobile home rentals years ago that had kitchen holes and we had mousely visitors in both places when we first moved in. I found spray foam at the store and used it both times successfully. It seems like this time it was a bit more difficult, but I think it was the upside down corner angle that made it so.
I just hope the housecleaning folk leave it alone. Yes, I work between 60 and 80 hours a week on our business so it is okay that I pay someone to come in once every week or two to clean my house. I am not lazy, as some have told me. I am busy because that is what it takes to run a successful company. David puts in more hours than I do. We have a lot of employees depending on us to feed their families so we make sure we sell our seeds.
Today is Linda's birthday! Linda just transferred into the store to do data entry from the Production building. She is quick and efficient and gets it done. Happy birthday, Linda!
We called the pest control folk but they are waiting for Covid test results as they came in contact with someone who had it.
We still have our fall garden seeds free shipping plan active on our website at DavidsGardenSeeds.com so we recommend getting your orders in as soon as possible.
Good morning. It has been a very busy morning. I cleaned up a lot around the house and took out five bags of trash from different rooms. When we had kids, they dumped all of the trash cans in the rooms but now I am on my own and it is something I get to about once a week except for kitchen trash. I got the dishes going as well as laundry.
Our computer/internet guy, Flavio, was supposed to come out today to set up our new payment system in the store since I cannot figure it out. Unfortunately, he is car is out of commission today so he says he will be here on Friday.
No more signs of mice in the house today. The foam made a mess. It is finally all off of my fingers. (How do you spell idiot for not wearing gloves?) I cleaned up some of the excess foam, but not enough that the housekeepers won't mess with it. They come tomorrow and we will be going to a cardiology appointment. Hopefully, I will get to talk with them first.
I had two dozen fresh eggs to put into my commercial fridge this morning. They are here waiting for the first egg shopper. First come, first served and no limits.
During corona last summer, someone came to our home and said he wanted all of the eggs we had because he could not find any in San Antonio for his wife. I had eight dozen besides what I had put aside for our family. He bought them all and I was happy because I could buy more feed, scratch, oyster shells, grit, and wood shavings for my chicks, not to mention greens and their favorite mealworm treats. Chickens are expensive. So no one should balk at the price of $4 a dozen when it costs a lot to feed them and to carton the eggs and put labels on the packaging which is required.
Today is my brother, John's birthday. Happy birthday to John.
Nacho and a helper have been here all day. I think they are working on a new watering system for the animals, but I could be wrong. David has been buying automated watering containers for the chickens and other animals outside. He says they are going to put in PVC pipes that will be hooked up to the containers so I don't have to lug six gallon watering containers around. I will be very grateful.
For those of you who are interested, that abandoned mower is still out front. Why? The guy is not even answering David at all now. It is beyond ridiculous.
I have been setting up social media posts and adding and dropping seed varieties on the website. I did not get enough sleep last night so I just had to get some tea as I was starting to fall asleep here in the store.
I brought some fresh eggs over to the store this morning, but only two dozen. We have been selling a bunch more than we used to so come early if you want to score some gorgeous eggs.
Our grow tower is looking gorgeous right now! Our garden seeds free shipping event includes seeds growing in hydroponics, like our grow tower.
Garden seeds free shipping is what everyone wants so if you buy $25 or more worth of seeds, we pay for your shipping so it is free to you, but not free to us. We send seeds through USPS with tracking so it costs a minimum of $3.01, depending on how heavy it is and how far it travels from Poteet, Texas.
Now, if you don't know your own address, or let's say you moved but you forgot to put in your new address when you order garden seeds free shipping you will not get. The envelope comes back to us. We refund you for the seeds, but we keep what it cost us to mail the package out to your wrong address. At this point if you want garden seeds free shipping, you need to reorder and change your address. We had two address returns yesterday. How do folks not know their own address?
Even worse, how do you not know your own last name? Last week, we had a garden seeds free shipping order returned because there was no one with the last name the customer put as his last name. The USPS marked it as Attempted - Not Known. So I looked at the order and saw the first name with a different last name in the email. This was addressed to a man. We emailed him and told him that USPS did not deliver because he was using a different last name than what was in his email. So he made a new order with his correct last name.
We almost always know who sent out what order and who pulled the seeds for each order as our employees initial the order sheet. If there is a problem, we ask the customer for a photo of the order sheet and the problem is solved.
Good morning! This morning was gorgeous with the sunrise colors and the lovely cool air. Yes, it was 70° and you could not feel the horrible, suffocating humidity. It was so nice! But it will reach 99° so it is just a little break.
My data entry helper has Thursdays off and Matt is out working the back forty with his father. They are working on the animal watering system, digging trenches and burying PVC pipe. Soon, David will have to shower and we will be going into San Antonio to the cardiologist for some testing.
My regular housekeeper did not show up today. The company sent some local folks from Poteet out so hopefully they do a nice job. I just got to the store to open it and start working on updates. It is quiet in here. I have been picking up the evidence of Molly's dog toy murders, tracked all over the house.
I also picked up a bit and emptied more off of the island.
The new housekeeper team did okay, but they did not clean my shower floor, they did not clean my kitchen sink out, and they did not wipe out the inside of the microwave. They also left my headboard dusty in the master bedroom. Now I will say that they emptied my dishwasher and put away all of the dishes. They also hand washed the dishes in the sink so that was cool.
This morning, it felt amazing outside. The temperature was 67° when I got up and I loved it. I enjoyed my time outside feeding the animals. Before I knew it, it was time to go to work.
Flavio showed up to set up our new Shopify pay system. It was way over my head. Unfortunately, he did not get to finish it as he had to leave for another appointment at 12:30pm. He will be back next Tuesday to finish it.
Today is Patriot Day or 9/11 and we know what that means. Our hearts are heavy as we think of all of the pain and suffering inflicted on us by enemies of the United States back in 2001, 20 years ago. Many seem to have forgotten how they flew planes into our buildings and killed so many Americans. Remember 9/11.
Well, the foam did not stop the mice because I put it in the wrong place! Yes, there were more mouse turds this morning on the kitchen counter. Most were by the coffee pot, but a few were by the oven. The dishwasher is below the coffee pot and after I cleansed a lot of things from all unrighteousness, I got to looking at the way the dishwasher is seated. There is a lot of space between the top of the dishwasher and the counter. And I found some turds...I think we have a winner.
The pest control people will be here next Tuesday now as they do not have the corona. I think if we can plug up above the dishwasher, we will be good.
This morning after I cleansed a lot of my kitchen, I dead headed my roses out front. Those mice got in my utensil holders and all over my spice holder. While I was cleaning that, I went through and pitched a bunch of old spices that were past the due date. The oldest one had a due date of November 2013. I was really surprised. I bought new ones at the store. Then we went to Tractor Supply and Walmart for animal food and food for us. After that, I continued cleaning the kitchen.
Out back seeds were going in raised beds during the morning. I hope all of you remember to take advantage of garden seeds free shipping from David's Garden Seeds®.
We watched Svengoolie and it was a good one, Abbott And Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde. We enjoyed seeing this old classic again. I used to watch the old Abbott and Costello movies with my father on the weekends when I was a girl. He loved them.
Happy Grandparents Day to all of our wonderful customers and friends who are grandparents.
This morning, we got up early and drove into San Antonio. We went to Fanick's Nursery to pick out some more trees for our orchard as some of ours have died. David called ahead and asked them to pick out some nice pecan and peach trees for us. When we got there, we saw them and added a few more. They always treat us so well. We highly recommend them to you if you are in the San Antonio area. They have a wonderful selection of trees and plants and are very knowledgeable.
We paid and left the trees there. Nacho will pick them up in a few days with his big trailer. Then we hurried back to Rossville just in time to go to the small church we have been attending for the past few weeks, just down the road.
Late in the afternoon, as I was going out to tend to my chickens, it poured for about five minutes and that was it. We had company for dinner and David made steaks. They were very good.
You want garden seeds free shipping so we are offering that on our website when you spend $25 or more so please take advantage.
