Regenerative Landscaping

Regenerative Landscaping: You've heard the term but what exactly does that mean? How hard would that be to incorporate into the garden you already have?

This method of landscaping is an approach to land management that focuses on restoring and enhancing the natural ecosystem's health and biodiversity. It involves practices that improve soil health, increase water retention, and support native plant and animal species, often incorporating techniques like permaculture, organic gardening, and sustainable water management.

The goal is to create landscapes that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also resilient, self-sustaining, and beneficial to the environment, ultimately contributing to the reversal of environmental degradation and the promotion of ecological balance.

This morning's breakfast--amazing scrambled eggs with cheese & salsa cooked in them, bacon, & fresh strawberries. So good! This morning's breakfast--amazing scrambled eggs with cheese & salsa cooked in them, bacon, & fresh strawberries. So good! Yes, I made it.

Good morning. Welcome to Holy Week. The year is flying by and we are already in the middle of April. We still don't have all of our planting done.

It is 60° and still dark. The temperature should hit 95 today. Matt arrived early and is taking care of the animals right now. I just got my first cup of coffee. There will just be the three of us today and there is a lot to do.

If you need colored eggs for Easter, I've got 13 dozen right now. There are some white ones that can be colored but a lot are already colored.

We will be open Monday through Thursday this week. We will be closed on Friday and Saturday for the Easter weekend so please don't come by on those days.

The Strawberry Festival is over. Someone emailed David yesterday, wishing him a good Strawberry Festival. We have nothing at all to do with the festival. We are not a part of the association and we don't even live in Poteet. We are many miles away. We have a Poteet mailing address because Rossville doesn't have a post office. The festival is way too crowded and it is always hot, with loud music and  high prices. We went once back in 2001 when our kids were young. They enjoyed it but the prices were high back then.

I have enjoyed watching the fireworks over my neighbor's house each night at 10pm but that is it. I am very surprised that we can see them from here. We have done some run sponsoring and strawberry flat bidding in earlier years but that has never generated any sales or even a mention in the local papers about our company. We will no longer be doing that. In fact, in our first five years in the community, we have given to a lot of causes and we have never had a word of thanks or seen any type of appreciation. We never even got a lousy T-shirt as we were promised on some things. We are done.

Today is called Holy Monday, aka Fig Monday due to the story in the Bible where Jesus curses a fig tree for not bearing fruit. See Mark 11:12-25. The Eastern Orthodox Church calls it Great and Holy Monday.

It is so much fun to have some babies in the goat pen again. Last year, Norton got spoiled with all of the attention. Now he is full sized and the father of our four babies. He is now in his own pen right next door. He just can't shove the girls around and eat all of the food as he was doing before we moved him.

George, Gracie, Lucy, Ethel, Alice. It is so hard to get them to pose. You can see Gracie's face in this one.George, Gracie, Lucy, Ethel, Alice. It is so hard to get them to pose. You can see Gracie's face in this one.

It is time for me to get dressed and start work so I had better get a move on. Matt is out there with hundreds of orders that need to go out today and he needs help.

I filled and mailed a whole lot of seed orders today. So did David and Matt. Our post office closes at 4pm. By 3:25pm, the mailman still had not come so, once again, we loaded up the truck and took three bags of mail down to the post office so it would go out on time. The mailman came at 3:52pm so it is a good thing we took the mail. We took it last week four out of six days.

A Rant

This is a photo of our orchard at sunset a few years ago when the trees were young. This is a photo of our orchard at sunset a few years ago when the trees were young.

A woman showed up here this afternoon with a teen and three small children wanting a free tour. She asked for banana seeds and plants which we do not carry. Her children were running all over the store, asking to see our animals. She said she had the kids today and was taking them around to see what there was to do. The local schools were off today because of the Strawberry Festival.

She felt that $2.99 was too much for a pack of flower seeds and that she could find them cheaper at Walmart. Go ahead.

The three of us were very busy and it was already 95°. We no longer employ a bunch of people. Yet, she wanted us to waste our valuable time entertaining the children for nothing. A good tour takes about 45 minutes.

Folks, we are a real business. We are not a free park or a playground. We are not entertainment for children on their day off.

Yes, we used to do free tours, which was a mistake because now everyone expects it. Back then, we had 20 employees so we could spare one of them to take guests around.

Farm tours are now $8 per person. It takes a lot of money to take care of the farm, the gardens, and the animals. It also takes a lot of money to pay our staff and if they are giving free tours and not counting, packing or shipping off seeds, we get behind on our seed orders. That is our bread and butter. There are no government checks coming to help us. If we don't make enough money, we just don't get paid. If we can't mail the orders out, there is no money. We have expenses, bills, employees to pay, and taxes, just like everyone else.

Also, kids running around, jumping, and climbing up displays is dangerous. If the children get hurt, we will be expected to pay medical bills and we will probably get sued. Also, children have broken our tools and equipment on the property in the past. They move seeds around in the store and think it is funny. It is not. Again, we are a real business and our store is for actual gardeners who are buying seeds.

From now on, if your children are acting up, you will be asked to leave. If your children break our equipment, you will be asked to pay for it and you will be invited to not bring your children back. We are here to give you garden advice if you are buying our seeds. If you buy your seeds at Walmart, go back to Walmart for advice.

If you are selling something, please do not come here. Open your own store to sell your product. We are not interested in buying your food, your makeup, your jewelry, your purses, or anything else you are selling.

If you are asking for us to sponsor an event or contribute to a charity, we are all tapped out. We give to our local church and to causes that we care about.

It is now 6:15pm so I am going to go in and cook dinner, then shower and forget about this day. This rant is over. Have a nice evening.

Hey there, fellow gardener! Ever thought about how amazing it would be if your garden wasn't just beautiful but also helped the planet? That's where regenerative landscaping comes in. It's like giving your garden a superpower!

Regenerative landscaping is all about creating a garden that's not only productive but also helps the environment. It's about working with nature, not against it. And guess what? You can totally do it in your own backyard, even with your vegetables, herbs, fruits, and flowers.

Why should you care about regenerative landscaping? Well, it's a win-win. You get a thriving garden, and the planet gets a little healthier. Plus, you'll be growing food you can be proud of.

How can regenerative gardening help you? Let's dive in!

**Part 1: What is Regenerative Landscaping?**

It's a way of gardening that focuses on building healthy soil, conserving water, and creating a balanced ecosystem right in your backyard. Think of it as creating a mini-nature reserve, but with delicious veggies and vibrant flowers.

**Part 2: Why Choose Regenerative Landscaping?**

Because it's awesome! Seriously, regenerative landscaping helps fight climate change, improves biodiversity, and makes your garden more resilient. Plus, using good seeds from David's Garden Seeds®  ensures you're starting with the best possible foundation.

It's like giving your garden a superhero cape.

**Part 3: Getting Started – Easy as Pie (Almost!)**

Is regenerative landscaping easy? Yes and no. It's not rocket science, but it does require a shift in mindset. Instead of fighting nature, you're working with it.

The first step? Observe your garden. What type of soil do you have? How much sun does it get? What kind of critters call it home?

Let me answer for us here at David's Garden Seeds® Farm. We are in South Central Texas and we have sand that goes down for more than 325 feet. We have gophers that live in it, dig in it every night,  and eat whatever plants they feel like. We find new piles of dirt all over the property every morning.

Sun? We get way too much hot sun so we have to use shadecloth to protect a lot of our plants.

Rain? Ha! We get very little so we have to water several times a week throughout the hot growing seasons.

Snapdragons enjoy the cooler weather of spring and fall but they go away in the heat of our early summers.Snapdragons enjoy the cooler weather of spring and fall but they go away in the heat of our early summers.

Good morning. Today is the third day of Holy Week. Today is called Fig Tuesday or the Great Third Day. Sound familiar? See yesterday's scripture.

There are rain clouds but we don't have a chance of rain until tomorrow when it is a 24% chance. Of course, that is the day that we are supposed to have the property mowed. It probably won't rain at all as it seldom does. I hope it pours today. Right now, everything is green and pretty but if we don't get more rain soon, everything will be brown again.

I got a bunch of goat treats from Amazon late yesterday and I did not take them out last night as I worked late and then had to make dinner. They are on my kitchen table. I will get them out there this morning. The two mama goats go through a cup of treats like there is no tomorrow. Of course, both are nursing and they always seem to be ravenous. I am feeding them plenty of extra food and hay but they only want treats and Tractor Supply always seems to be out of the licorice ones. They hate the apple treats and refuse to eat them.

We got in a bunch of new zinnia seeds and we will be putting up a new display in the store as soon as we have time to build it. Right now, they are on a table up front by the counter.

Some of our coffee flavors are completely gone. If you plan on trying it, do so now while the price is low. We will not be getting anymore in for a while.

The Safelite man is in my driveway replacing the windshield on my car. I was over in the gazebo feeding the fish when I took this. The Safelite man is in my driveway replacing the windshield on my car. I was over in the gazebo feeding the fish when I took this.

I took a load of laundry to the laundry room which is by the car port. Trump started barking loudly and the Safelite man was out there replacing my broken windshield. I had no idea.

I went out and opened our store. I fertilized and watered the grow tower in the store. Then I watered some flowers in pots out in the parking lot.

After that, our first customers of the day came and we had a good visit. They got a beautiful new truck and were showing me all of the features.

Then David and I left to take care of some important errands. While we were gone, we had lunch at an Asian place that is okay but it is always crowded. Then we continued with our errands.

We ended up going to the Central Appraisal place, a title company, our insurance agency, and the tax assessor collector office. Then to top things off, we hit a building supply place in Pleasanton on the way home.

We got here right after the mailman left and I had a whole lot of orders to do. He brought me some new shoes that I had ordered for Easter. I am happy to say that I think they are worth what I paid for them and they are the most expensive pair of shoes I have ever purchased for myself.

Matt took this photo today for Tax Day!Matt took this photo today for Tax Day!

Happy Income Tax Day! You will be happy to know that our accountant had to file an extension for us instead of finishing which leaves me feeling quite unsettled. Now we get to pay a penalty on top of the taxes we still owe. I was good today until about 3pm when I realized that it is tax day and our taxes are still not done. Every year but one, he has completed them with a few weeks to spare.

It is now 6:36pm and I am going to stop working and go in to feed the dogs and put laundry in the dryer.

**Part 4: Building Healthy Soil – The Foundation of Your Regenerative Garden**

Healthy soil is the heart of regenerative landscaping. It's where all the magic happens. Think of it as the foundation of your garden's superhero suit.

How do you build healthy soil? Compost! Compost is like a superhero power-up for your soil. It adds nutrients and helps the soil retain water.

Another key ingredient? Worms! These little guys are like the unsung heroes of the garden. They help break down organic matter and aerate the soil.

**Part 5: Water Wisely – Conserving this Precious Resource**

Water is essential for life, but we need to use it wisely. Regenerative landscaping helps you do just that.

One way to conserve water is by using mulch. Mulch is like a superhero shield for your soil. It helps retain moisture and prevents evaporation.

Another water-saving tip? Choose plants that are adapted to your local climate. They'll need less watering and be more resilient to droughts.

Try to use plants that are native to your area. They may not be the pretty plants you grew up with but at least they will do well. It is not wet enough or cool enough here for me to have most of the beautiful flowers and trees that were in my yard growing up. It is sad because as a child, I loved the yard we were in. I have tried growing some of them here, but it is just too hot!

I found these red snapdragons among the phlox in the flowerbed in front of the Farm Store yesterday.I found these red snapdragons among the phlox in the flowerbed in front of the Farm Store yesterday.

Good morning. I was awakened with foot neuropathy so I got up and started working. Today, Nacho will be cutting the weeds down. They are getting scary tall which means snakes could be lurking behind every clump. I hate going out there with that thought.

Today is Holy Wednesday which commemorates the Bargain of Judas as a spy among the disciples. You will remember that he agrees to point Jesus out for 30 pieces of silver. See Matthew 26:14-15. Today  is also called Spy Wednesday because of this. Another name for the day is Good Wednesday (in Western Christianity), and Great and Holy Wednesday (in Eastern Christianity).

This is the new solar light for our gate. Funny we've lived here for almost six years now and never had a light. This is the new solar light for our gate. Funny we've lived here for almost six years now and never had a light.

Nacho and his team mowed. Then they hung a new security light close to our gate for nighttime.

Here is the hole in the old greenhouse floor that my foot went through just about three weeks ago--a fun experience. Here is where my foot went through the old greenhouse floor about three weeks ago--a fun experience--not!

They screwed the new floor down in my greenhouse so I don't have to fall through the floor. To the original builder of my greenhouse, we bought real wood this time, which you should have done when you built it. God knows we certainly paid you enough to buy real wood and still make a profit. My leg wounds have finally healed and no longer cause me pain. Thank you for the new scars.

All of the trees and plants were moved. The shelving in the forefront has been put in the greenhouse and elsewhere. All of the trees and plants were moved. The shelving in the forefront has been put in the greenhouse and elsewhere.

Then Nacho and his team took down some wood in my plant area near the greenhouse. They are supposed to be rearranging shelving and putting some trees in there. I have no idea what else they will do. They ended up moving everything including the cloth growing bags. I discovered that I have two volunteer leftover sweet potato plants growing from last year so that is nice. They also cut some bamboo down for David to use.

A few of the tomato and pepper plants that Matt planted this afternoon. There are still more to plant.A few of the tomato and pepper plants that Matt planted this afternoon. There are still more to plant.

Meanwhile, Matt has been planting tomato and pepper plants and seeds out front. I watered my zinnias because some are still not coming up. A lot of the seeds I planted a few weeks ago have come up but I still don't see any ground cherries up yet.

Around 4:30pm, I went to the back and watered all of my plants and citrus trees. At 5:15pm, I closed up and wrote Nacho a check.

Then I went back to my plant area and planted some tomato plants as well as some sugar snap peas, two kinds of lettuce, arugula, parsley, and some currant seeds. Matt is supposed to move two more planters to my plant area in the morning. If he does, I will be planting more back there then.

While I planted seeds, I reflected on a lot of things that have been going on and I finally made sense of it all. I get it. Sometimes when things are troubling, you have to find a way to sort it all out and digging and gardening was just what I needed. Fortunately, the breeze kept it fairly cool while I worked so I could think.

I watered everything well and thought about more things I need to plant. I will probably wait until tomorrow evening to plant because I don't want to be sweaty when we go out for a nice lunch tomorrow. David is taking me out to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary.

I went out to the dumpster and was surprised to find this much light!I went out to the dumpster and was surprised to find this much light!

It is now almost 9pm. I just went outside to make sure that the new gate light is working. Indeed it is! I am amazed at the amount of light it puts out.

**Part 6: Creating a Balanced Ecosystem – Inviting Biodiversity into Your Garden**

A healthy garden is a diverse garden. Regenerative landscaping encourages biodiversity by creating a habitat for beneficial insects, birds, bees, and other critters. Our bees are all over our property, collecting nectar from every flower. They are pollinating our tree blooms, enjoying dandelions and other "weeds" and pollinating our blooms on the vegetable plants. In turn, they make honey.

How do you invite biodiversity into your garden? Plant a variety of flowers and herbs that attract pollinators. Provide shelter for beneficial insects by leaving some areas of your garden undisturbed.

**Part 7: Reaping the Rewards – Enjoying the Fruits (and Veggies!) of Your Labor**

The best part about regenerative landscaping? Getting to enjoy the fruits (and veggies!) of your labor. You'll have delicious, healthy food that's good for you and the planet. Right now, our asparagus is still producing so we are getting fresh shoots each day.

Thursday, April 17, 2025

Today is Maundy Thursday. If you are like me, you may wonder what the word maundy means. This word is Latin for "command" and it is talking about Jesus saying to love one another. You can find this new commandment in John 13:34-35.

Holy Thursday or Maundy Thursday is when the Last Supper took place and shortly after that, Jesus was arrested in the garden where He prayed. You can read about the Last Supper in the Bible in the following passages: Matthew 26:26-28, Mark 14:22-25, and Luke 22:14-23 and also in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26. Most importantly, you should read John chapters 13 through 17 which also happened during the Last Supper. At the end of chapter 17, they leave the house to go to the Garden of Gethsemane so Jesus can pray.

You can read about that in Matthew 26:36-46, Mark 14:32-42, and Luke 22:39-46. Then go back to John 18 and read the rest of what happened.

Good morning. It is windy and 68°. The high should get to 88° with no rain.

The animals are doing well. Matt spent the day doing a lot of planting and outdoor work. He even cleaned out the goat pen.

David and I left here at 10:20am for San Antonio. He had several things to do. The traffic and freeway construction is the worst I have ever seen it and I lived there for 20 years. We finally got over to Stone Oak and went to Chama Gaucha for our 38th wedding anniversary which is tomorrow. It was just us.

The lighting over the salad bar is huge and so pretty.

The service was good and the food was great as always. We left and saw a cyber truck in the parking lot. That thing was super big, way bigger than I thought they were.

We got back and I was filling orders. A car came in and I recognized it as belonging to a person I did not care to deal with so I called Matt to handle it. The customer wanted something we don't carry and then asked Matt if he was going to go to the church down the road that we used to go to and play the piano for them on Easter Sunday morning. We stopped going there last April.

The afternoon flew by and then around 5:15pm, I asked Matt to help me with the pond filter as the waterfall was down to a trickle again. Fixing it is a two person job. It is heavy and has to be held up by one while the other person brushes off all of the debris. We got it going. Then I cleaned and emptied the dirty water. I am now filling it with clean water. It is almost 7pm. Our employees are still here. They really need to go home.

I made ramen noodles for dinner. I had hoped to finish planting tonight but the planter towers were not brought up here for me to plant.

It is now 8pm and I was just out there kicking our people out to go home and enjoy their three day weekend. We closed at 5pm.

Matt is turning off the gate so it won't open for the weekend while I nearly get blown away watching.Matt is turning off the gate so it won't open for the weekend while I nearly get blown away watching.

Tomorrow and Saturday, we will be closed for business. I watched while Matt closed the gate. I think he did it right. The wind has really picked up. It is really getting rowdy out there.

Here is the sunset tonight. Here is the sunset tonight.

Regenerative Landscaping

So, who can do regenerative landscaping? Anyone! Whether you have a small balcony garden or a large backyard, you can incorporate regenerative principles.

When can you start? Anytime! There's no wrong time to start making your garden more sustainable.

Why should you do it? Because regenerative gardening should be a part of everyone's backyard garden. It’s good for you, good for your garden, and good for the planet.

Let’s delve deeper into the practical aspects of incorporating regenerative landscaping into your garden.

Start by assessing your existing garden. What kind of soil do you have? Where does the water flow? What plants are already thriving?

Next, think about your goals. Do you want to grow more food? Attract more pollinators? Improve the health of your soil?

Once you have a clear understanding of your starting point and your goals, you can begin to implement regenerative landscaping principles. For instance, we make our own compost and add it to garden beds before we plant.

Most of it, I never dreamed--good and bad.38 years ago today we were married at El Paso First Church of the Nazarene. So much has happened over the past 38 years. Most of it, I never dreamed--good and bad.

Happy 38th wedding anniversary to David and me! We were married on the day before Easter back in 1987. I never dreamed back then that the time would go by so quickly.

We will not be celebrating our anniversary today because David will be thinking about the sacrifice that Jesus made on Good Friday instead.

Today is Good Friday, the day Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the world. He made it possible for all to go to Heaven instead of Hell like we deserve. But you have to accept His free gift of eternal life in order to go to Heaven. It's all in the Bible. Look it up.

You can read all about the Good Friday events in your Bible in the following passages: Matthew 27:32-56, Mark 15:21-41, Luke 23:26-49, and John 19:17-37.

This is one of our Easter Egger chickens. She lays blue eggs. This is one of our Easter Egger chickens. She lays blue eggs.

I got out early to feed the animals. Silly Norton had pulled the wire down from his electric fence and had it tangled on his hind legs. I got a stick and pulled the wire and got it all off of him. Apparently, he is not going to have an electric fence. The problem is that he keeps tearing apart his fencing. I think he needs cattle panels instead. We should probably trade him in and get a new male that is not related to our goats. There is only one female that Norton is not related to now.

The chickens are doing well. The pond is flowing nicely so the fish are fine. I started dishes and laundry and even swept the kitchen floor.

We are closed today but Amazon said some orders had to go out today. I just finished pulling and sending them out. However, our gate is closed today and I have no way of knowing when the mailman will come. It is too windy to put the bag out by the gate. I am about to go in and clean. Sounds like fun, right?

Matt had to come over and fix a leak outside. He then took the mail to the post office. He opened the gate so the mailman could come and instead, a customer came in so we had to tell him we are closed and close the gate back up which is why I had it closed in the first place. We always get customers on Good Friday when we are closed if the gate is open. Funny how we are open all week but they only want to come when we are closed!

I spent some time playing with Trump after David took Pamela and Sue Ellen out. He is much easier to manage when the other dogs are not there.

I just packed up four dozen eggs to take over to the Farm Store. The problem is that it is hot outside and I do not want to go out in the 90° heat.

I took the eggs over and got them put away in date order for selling.

Trump always has to carry his leash. Lol! He is so cute.Trump always has to carry his leash. Lol! He is so cute.

I got the leash and Trump and I took a long walk in the heat with a lot of wind. He loved every second of it, always holding the leash. Up and down the ramp we had built last summer that no one uses. He loves that ramp. That is the first thing we hit because he steers over that way.

I just put dinner in the oven, chicken, scalloped potatoes, and asparagus. My back is now killing me and I still have to go take care of all of the animals but I guess that will wait until later. I have to sit down...

I finally made it out to the animals around 7pm. Good thing I went out. This wind blew some shade cloth into the goat pen. I have no idea how she managed it, but Gracie had it tangled around her and she could not escape. Everywhere she ran, the long black cape of shade cloth followed. I had a terrible time getting her to hold still so I could get it off of her but I finally set her free. The wind was terrible.

We rented the new movie, The Last Supper. It was pretty good.

Regenerative Landscaping

One of the most important aspects of regenerative landscaping is building healthy soil. Healthy soil is teeming with life, from microscopic bacteria and fungi to earthworms and insects.

To improve your soil health, start by adding compost. Compost is a rich source of nutrients that helps to feed the soil food web.

You can also use cover crops to improve soil health. Cover crops are plants that are grown specifically to improve the soil. They help to prevent erosion, suppress weeds, and add organic matter to the soil.

Another important aspect of regenerative landscaping is water conservation. Water is a precious resource, and we need to use it wisely.

One way to conserve water in your garden is to use mulch. Mulch helps to retain moisture in the soil, reducing the need for frequent watering.

You can also choose plants that are drought-tolerant. These plants are adapted to dry conditions and require less watering than other plants.

Saturday, April 19, 2025

Today is called Holy Saturday. It signifies all of the waiting that the disciples had to do in their own homes after all of the horrors of Good Friday, not realizing that Jesus' resurrection would happen the next day. It was the Sabbath and Jewish law forbade them to do much else. The scriptures you should read today are Matthew 27:62-66, Luke 23:55-56, and John 19:40.

During this time, Jesus actually descended to Sheol aka Hades. If you would like to learn more about that, here are several passages: Acts 2:27-32, Ephesians 4:9-10, 1 Peter 3:18-20, 1 Peter 4:6, and Colossians 2:15.

David made a nice breakfast and I fed the dogs. Now it is time for me to go feed the animals and do some watering.

These are my loaves of Easter Bread. They came out good, a bit sweet, but not too sweet. These are my loaves of Easter Bread. They came out good, a bit sweet, but not too sweet.

I got the animals taken care of and then I picked the last of the asparagus. There was barely any. We hardly got any of it and I have none in the freezer because David gave so much of it away. So that is that. There is barely enough for the three of us to eat this evening.

I spent most of the day in the kitchen. I baked a carrot cake and some Easter bread. Both turned out good but, strangely, no one wanted to eat any tonight so I wasted the day when I could have been doing something else. So much for holiday prep. I remember when all of that used to be fun.

We all went outside at 9:15pm to adjust the new light which is on a timer. Then we went back in and finished a movie about the life of King David in the Bible.

Regenerative Landscaping

regenerativelandscaping7

Creating a diverse ecosystem is another key principle of regenerative landscaping. A diverse garden is a healthy garden.

To encourage biodiversity in your garden, plant a variety of flowers, herbs, and vegetables. This will attract pollinators and other beneficial insects.

You can also create habitat for wildlife by leaving some areas of your garden undisturbed. This will provide shelter for birds, insects, and other animals.

Growing food is a rewarding experience, and regenerative landscaping can help you to grow food that is both delicious and nutritious.

By using good seeds, you can ensure that your plants are healthy and productive. Choose seeds that are adapted to your local climate and soil conditions.

Regenerative landscaping is a journey, not a destination. It’s an ongoing process of learning and adapting.

Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new things. The more you learn about your garden, the better you’ll be able to care for it.

The tomb is empty. He is risen. He is risen indeed! The tomb is empty. He is risen. He is risen indeed!

Happy Resurrection Day! To read about what happened, read the following chapters in the Bible: Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24, and John 20.

I woke up around 5am and soon I heard pouring rain. I went back to sleep and it was still raining at 6am when the alarm went off. We are grateful for the rain. We have really needed it and so much more.

We left here at 7:15am for a sunrise service at 8am, a bit late, but it didn't matter as it was held in the sanctuary. Then we ate breakfast at the church. They had a big turnout and there were not enough chairs. We walked around for a while and finally found a place to sit. It's so embarrassing to just walk around like that.

We stayed for Sunday School and then the normal worship service. We got home and I let the chickens and goats out. I had to feed the goats more even though I gave them a lot of extra food last night.

We got just under 3/4 of an inch of rain, quite a bit for us.

Regenerative Landscaping
