You will need:

  • 3/4 Cups Cinnamon
  • 1 Tablespoon Allspice
  • 1 Tablespoon Nutmeg
  • 2 Tablespoons Cloves
  • 1 Cup Applesauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Ginger
  • Cookie Cutters (If you want round ornaments but you don't have a round cookie cutter, use a glass turned upside down)
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking Sheets
  • Thin Ribbon or Cord

Mix all of the spices together. Slowly pour the applesauce into the bowl with the spices. Stir together and mix well. Knead dough and then break into four sections. Roll one section of the dough with a rolling pin to 1/4" thick. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters. Use a straw to poke a hole near the top of each ornament. Don't make the hole too close to the edge of the ornament.

Place "cookies" on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for three hours at 150 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cool for about 10 minutes and remove from pan. Let cool completely. Put a ribbon or cord through the hole in each ornament and tie together.

Double or even triple the recipe if you want to make a lot of ornaments.

Use a hot glue gun and glue mini bows on the front and/or use a little craft glue brushed on the front of the ornament and sprinkle glitter on the glue. Let dry.

Hang the ornaments on your tree, on a wreath, and/or on a nail on the wall in all of your rooms to give the whole house a wonderful smell. This is especially great in bathrooms, the pantry, the garage, and the laundry room to freshen the air there.

NOTE: The ornaments are fragile and will break if packed tightly or if dropped or slammed around so be careful with them.

CAUTION: These are not to be eaten. If children are around, please make sure they understand these ornaments cannot be eaten!

Keep in a sealed plastic bag once Christmas is over and the scent will last through the next season.
