Each day in December, we all ask How Many Days Until Christmas? We used to have a snowman with a little chalkboard to tell us but he went away to a better place. We need to get one of those cool peg boards to keep track of it.
On Tuesday of this week when David and I went to Walmart, I found this new home ornament. I have been looking since last month and finally found one. If I could have found a farm ornament, I would have gotten that, too! After all, we have not moved into a new home in almost 19 years. Come out and visit us on the farm at David's Garden Seeds®.
Good Monday morning and Merry Christmas! It is a foggy morning here at the farm. How many days until Christmas? Sixteen! Oh no! I have gifts to wrap. We have family coming in next week to celebrate early because they have to work the week of Christmas including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Phil and Matt V. (not our son Matt) are working on putting up the water well house. (Yes, we hired someone else.) They have the pieces spread out. It looks like a giant jigsaw puzzle.
The fog has slowly lifted and they finally have some walls up now on the well house. Shortly thereafter, some heavy equipment and two trucks showed up to redo our driveway. After ten trucks were caught in the sand because they did not stay on the driveway, it has gotten torn up.
The driveway got finished and the mail truck came in and tore up part of it with a back wheel. I don't know how. So I went out there and put all of the dirt and stones back into the hole with my foot. I just don't understand. This is the photo above on the right.
I put out another David's Garden Seeds® newsletter highlighting our Seed Set Collections because they make great Christmas gifts. They make great gifts all year long, but they seem to be exceptionally popular at Christmas time!
Bethany is not at work today because she had her wisdom teeth out on Saturday. She is pretty sore. Hopefully she will be back midweek.
Phil and Matt finished the water well house around 5pm. It took a very long time. Looks good, though.
I woke up after midnight with a clogged nose so I sat up on the couch and slept. I woke up at 5am and went back to my bed. Shortly thereafter, it rained really hard. I went back to sleep and woke up at 7am. It was raining and David was looking out the living room window. Santa died in the night and his body was lying in the driveway. Mary and Joseph also bit it. Apparently it got pretty windy after I fell asleep this morning.
None of our team members are coming out here this morning so it is just us. We decided to go to the water well company to take them some papers they need and then to the Walmart in Devine. I bought food that our grandchildren like as they are coming this Friday for a week. I also ever so casually picked up a few more toys. Fortunately, David stayed out in the car napping.
We got busy with computer work and then in the late afternoon, I started wrapping Christmas gifts. Unfortunately, I did not finish as I stopped in the middle and ordered more stuff! LOL! I love to give on Christmas.
It got cold tonight and will get down in the 30s by morning. I started crocheting a baby afghan this evening. I have not crocheted in a very long time but I want to start again.
Good Wednesday morning! How many days until Christmas now? There are 14! I need to finish up my gift wrapping today until more arrive tomorrow. Ugh! I don't like wrapping gifts.
I was doing social media just now and as the light was breaking, David called that he saw a deer. I rushed into the kitchen with my phone. I saw nothing. David said they were close to the fence line in our yard. I went out on the pool deck and starting videoing. Then I saw a deer jump the fence and go into the hay meadow next door. There were a baby and a mama deer. I followed them with my camera. It was quite awesome.
Hopefully when our crew gets here today, they can revive Mary, Joseph, Santa, the Christmas tree, and Frosty. No Christmas lights came on last night as David unplugged them after the pouring rain. They just laid in the wet sand all day and night.
Sure enough, the crew revived the Christmas folks and then added the Grinch, Mickey, and a smaller Santa in his sleigh. Yay! Everything looks great so I went out and took a few selfies. How many days until Christmas do we have to get selfies with them all?
Bethany brought out some tamales that our manger's (Jay) family
made--chicken and pork. If you know anything about living in Texas, the
Christmas season always includes delicious tamales, a wonderful treat.
My favorite is the chicken. It just so happens that Jay included chicken
and pork tamales. I steamed them and made taco rice to go with them for
lunch. They were flavorful, moist, and delicious! The masa was so
tender. Thank you to Jay and his family for thinking of us! How many days until Christmas? There are enough so you can make more for us! LOL!
I
cleaned the house and wrapped gifts. Now I am making soup with leftover
frozen turkey and bone broth from Thanksgiving. It stayed chilly today
so it is perfect soup weather.
At 4:45pm UWR, the water well folks showed up. David went out to talk to them. It seems the handle they put on the well was too hard to turn so they came out and put on a new handle.
I am making soup right now from the leftover frozen turkey and bone broth so it is smelling quite incredible in my kitchen right now.
David is still in his office working. Our crew has gone home. I need to start baking for the grandchildren. They come this Friday. I already have a lot of things planned out to do with them so they can remember coming to our house was always fun and filled with good times.
Let's talk about that awesome full moon that is out there tonight. It looks beautiful! How many days until Christmas. Too bad a full moon won't be out on Christmas Eve.
Good Thursday morning! How many days until Christmas now? There are 13 days left! Today, I am getting several Amazon packages that are Christmas gifts. I am so glad I wrapped the others already. I really don't like wrapping at all.
It is a chilly 36° this morning and the sun came up as a red sphere. It looked amazing!
The blowups made it through the night and look terrific!
They got a lot done out in the garden and orchard area. Bethany continues the war with the ants.
How many days until Christmas now? There are just 12 days left!
This morning, we are on our way up to San Saba, Texas to meet with Jeremy and his children to take them home with us for a week. We left our house around 8:20am and headed for Japanese Engines, the name of our mechanic's business, where our dead SUV was being held. We took our title to him, unloaded our SUV, and said goodbye. It was a good vehicle for 17 years, 10 months, and 11 days.
We got back on the road and had an uneventful trip. We met them at a pizzeria that made delicious pizza. We ate lunch and then loaded up our grandchildren, Holley and Max for a week of Christmas break on the farm. They kept asking us how many days until Christmas. We didn't get back until almost 5pm. We took them out to the blowups in the daylight and they loved them. Then we ate dinner and after it got dark, we took them outside to see all of the lights in the dark and to take photos.
After that, they had bubble baths with bath bombs and got into brand new snuggly pajamas. We all settled down in the living room and watched the original 1964 Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. That has been a seasonal favorite of mine since it first came out, when I was five years old. It is still just as magical and fun as it was back in 1964. The kids loved it. Then they decided they were hungry so we had popcorn. We finally got them into bed and they quickly fell asleep, dreaming of how many days until Christmas next Wednesday.
How many days until Christmas? There are just 11 days left. This morning around 3:30am, I could hear Max coughing up a storm and talking. I put my robe on and found him. I gave him a cough drop and he said he was being good. He finally went back to sleep, but it took me quite a while to fall back to sleep. Holley slept through the night.
At 8am, the Rossville Historical Community Center, there was a breakfast with Santa this morning so we took Holley and Max. We each got sausage, eggs, and three very large pancakes along with juice and coffee. The food was good and there was a nice turn out.
Santa Claus showed up in a fire truck close to 9:30am and Max and Holley were the first kids in line to see Santa! They had a blast. Then they made Christmas crafts and played in the park there.
After that, we went to Walmart for a few things. We came home, had sliders for lunch and then they painted and drew on dry erase boards. Now it is 3:30pm and Grandpa David came out to the living room. He is watching Frosty the Snowman with Holley and Max. I don't think they have ever watched it before. They are mesmerized by it.
Several packages came that are Christmas gifts. I put up three light projectors that have Christmas related pictures. We will have to check them tonight when it gets dark. Two will project on the house from outside. The other one is in my craft room and should project outside.
It is hot and breezy with a clear, blue sky outside. I am exhausted and my legs hurt.
How many days until Christmas is what we keep hearing from the kids. They are so excited!
We ended the evening watching several Christmas shows with the kids including Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and then we watched It's A Wonderful Life.
How many days until Christmas now? Today is Sunday so there are ten days left! However, we are having Christmas with the grandchildren on Wednesday, the 18th so for them, there are three days left. They will go home with their parents then and their mom has to work on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so she was able to get off on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week.
The day started off foggy and chilly. We got ready for church and drove an hour into San Antonio for our church's Christmas program. The children could not sit still and kept asking to go home. After church, we got McDonald's for lunch and then we took them to the San Antonio Aquarium. They got to feed and pet animals, fish, and turtles.
We came home and they played while I finished wrapping gifts. Of course, the kids kept asking me how many days until Christmas. Then I had to pick up the house, wipe glue off the kitchen table, and do laundry. I never got to sit down to watch TV and am finally going to bed a little after 11pm. I am exhausted. Good night!
